  5. This is v3.02e BETA of the Stealth Pro Install / Windows Drivers
  6. disk.  Please backup any system critical files before installation.
  7.  
  8. Installation Notes
  9. ------------------
  10. Use the INSTALL file to install the Windows 3.1 drivers from DOS 
  11. or from the Windows Program Manager.  
  12.  
  13. *  Suggestion:  Use MS VGA when installing from Program Manager 
  14.    to eliminate any OEM files that could create a conflict.
  15.  
  16. *  If the install says "file exists, overwrite Y/N" for any of 
  17.    the .VBX files, OVERWRITE it.  The files provided are newer
  18.    than those provided with Visual BASIC 3.0 and other VB apps.
  19.    Leaving old files will produce errors like "Enter an integer".
  20.  
  21. *  If the install says "file in use, abort/continue" and the 
  22.    file in question is a font (*.FON) file, continue the install.
  23.  
  24. *  If strange errors occur and text is missing from dialogs,
  25.    check for .VBX files in your \WINDOWS directory.  .VBX files
  26.    should only reside in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM subdirectory.
  27.  
  28. Once the driver launches Windows, you will be placed in 640x480
  29. 16-color mode and prompted to select your monitor type.  Select 
  30. the brand monitor you have, compatible type, or use the Custom 
  31. Monitor Timings to create your own configuration and custom 
  32. screen centering.
  33.  
  34. *  Icon fonts are controlled by InControl Tools.  When changing
  35.    modes back to VGA or a non-Diamond driver, these settings
  36.    still remain.  To change back to default icon font, search
  37.    the WIN.INI file for the IconTypeFace, IconTypeStyle, and
  38.    IconTypeSize lines.  Place a semicolon (;) in front of these
  39.    lines or remove the lines entirely.
  40.  
  41. *  Only resolutions that have been selected as supported in the
  42.    Display module will be available in the Viewport choices.  If
  43.    your monitor can display a resolution provided by the card,
  44.    go to Display and select a monitor that offers that mode and
  45.    refresh, or select Custom Monitor Timings and Add the mode.
  46.  
  47. *  If Windows only displays a single alphabetic character for the
  48.    icon font, select a different font from the list of InControl
  49.    Tools.  Windows may not support the font type/size requested
  50.    in the resolution and resource size displayed.
  51.  
  52. *  If you had screen savers loaded previously, and they seem not
  53.    to load on startup any longer, see the message at the top 
  54.    regarding backing up important files and the limitation down
  55.    below of LOAD= line being replaced and not appended.  This is
  56.    a limitation of the Windows 3.xx SETUP program.

  59. Utilities
  60. ---------
  61. STLMODE should be installed for all first-time operations.  This 
  62. program controls the frequencies sent to the monitor for all 
  63. non-Windows programs and will allow the high resolution and high 
  64. color modes to syncronize correctly on your screen.
  65.  
  66. STLMODE.EXE allows selection of text modes, video emulation modes, 
  67. and monitor mode frequencies for all environments outside of DOS.  
  68. Monitor timing information is saved to the EEPROM on the Stealth 
  69. Pro and is automatically loaded on powerup or reset.
  70.  
  71. Users with monitors not conforming to the industry preset monitors
  72. provided can select the CUSTOM MONITOR option which allows 
  73. selection of frequencies, sync polarities, and screen centering 
  74. for each video resolution and color depth.  Please consult your 
  75. monitor manual for the exact capabilities of your monitor before 
  76. selecting monitor timing.  We strongly urge that selection of 
  77. monitor timings in CUSTOM be made for all resolutions and color 
  78. depths.

  140. Mathcad 4.0 (and other applications using the Win32s libraries), generate
  141. random locks and reboots.

  143. Word for Windows 6.0, create a graph, exit the graph editor, double click on
  144. the graph to enter into edit mode, the tops of graph bars are the wrong colors.

  146. When printing text gets cut off (top or bottom part of the text).

  151. 1024x768x8bit, Kanji Word, the application will not launch.

  156. STEALTHT.DRV @0001:D907.

  158. Word for Windows 6.0, 24-Bit the I-beam is transparent.

  160. Set your font size and font in InControl to 7pt Arial.  The font displayed
  161. will be Times New Roman

  163. 1024768x8-bit, Word for Windows 6.0, Stealth 24 ISA Make 72 pt characters
  164. select and deselect them, vertical lines will appear.

  166. 640x480x24-bit, Open a DOS Prompt Full screen, the systems crashes to DOS
  167. without any errors or notifications (Stealth Pro drivers only).

  169. 16-bit modes, Video for Windows sample .AVI file looks like 4 colors displays.

  171. All printers, 8/16-bit, printing with a shaded object, output in incomplete.
  172. this can be reproducted 100% using WinFax Pro.

  174. PageMaker 5.0, no text appears when printing to HP500c using TrueType fonts.
  175. This only happen when "Dithering" is set to "standard."

  177. Visual Basic 3.0, All res., 16-bit, OPEN PROJECT, and select MOUSE.MAK, find
  178. DRAG.FRM from \samples\mouse and click on the play button.  Click on OPTIONS
  179. and then select DRAG DROP, choosing any file will caused GPF at 0004:2640.

  181. Adobe Illustrator 4.0, All res., 4/8/16-bit, when saving in Adobe Illustrator 4
  182. a file with a black & white preview option will cause a GPF at 0003:0320.
  183.  
  184. THREED.VDX, Conflicts with some applications requiring version 3 of Threed.vdx
  185.  
  186. Paintbrush, 24-bit, Using the brush choose any color, the color will be either
  187. pink or brownish when used.  When first choosing the color, it will turn pink.
  188. If you click on the menu then click back to paint the color will be brownish.

  190.  
  191. InControl Tools, All res., All colors, When changing the color for the mouse
  192. if you hit CANCEL after your change, the change will still take effect.
  193.  
  194. Print Shop Deluxe, all 24-bit drivers, The color for the PAGE and BEHIND OBJECT
  195. are always in purple no matter what color is selected.
  196.  
  197. Quattro Pro 5.0, all 8-bit drivers, go to the tutorial <click button>,
  198. Do the 1st lesson, Push the <next> button.  After 3rd page in the lesson
  199. right after "Load a sample lesson", the system will drop to DOS or lock up.
  200.  
  201. AVI Player, 640x480x16-bit, The picture appears as shades of green with black
  202. areas.  Also reproducable with Microsoft Encarta - play any movie.
  203.  
  204. MS Publisher 2.0, 1024x768x8-bit, Create a greeting card or invitation this
  205. will cause GPF at 0003:159A. (WIZARDS)
  206.  
  207. MS Publisher 2.0, 800x600x256(LF), Cannot type in the entry for name,
  208. job title, phone number, etc. when using PAGE WIZARD ASST. IN MAKING and
  209. select "Business Card & Paper."
  210.  
  211. Multimedia Atlas, all resolutions, 4/8/16-bit, Open US Atlas and select any
  212. city, you will get a GPF in the driver.
  213.  
  214. PrintShop Deluxe, all 8/16-bit, Create a Greeting Card, when you get to
  215. the layout portion, select | OBJECTS | ADD | TEXT, Type in a text field,
  216. Click OK, the text does not show up on Main screeen, but will print OK.

  218. Icon Editors, Pixels did not match the grid spaces.

  224. WinWord 6.0, all 8/16 bpp, click DRAWING button | click TEXT BOX button | 
  225. create a text box | type in few lines using Times New Roman, 10pts, Bold,
  226. Italic | drag to select the sentence | get GPF in STEALTH.DRV at 2:66E0 (8bpp)
  227. & 2:5338 (16bpp).
  228.  
  229. PowerPoint 3.0 or 4.0, 24bpp mode, the dots for the border indicator around 
  230. the picture do not show.
  231.  
  232. PowerPoint 4.0, 24bpp mode, the crosshair guidelines do not show.
  233.  
  234. PageMaker 5.0, all 8/16 bpp, the ROTATE button in the tool box does not display
  235. properly.

  237. Quattro Pro 5.0, 8bpp mode, get kick back to DOS or reboot the system when
  238. using A Quick Look at Quattro Pro.

  240. Add support 72Hz refresh rate for 1280x1024 resolution.

  242. Smart Label Pro, 8/16 bpp, when using Bar Code will cause GPF in STEALTH.DRV
  243. at 1:0765.

  245. FoxPro for Windows 2.5, all mode, when importing a BMP file about 100K or more,
  246. GPF will occur in STEALTH.DRV at 4:2XXX.
  247.  
  248. MS Project 4.0, 24bpp mode, the highlight does not show.
  249.  
  250. Canon Bubble Jet printers, 8/16 bpp, get GPF in STEALTH.DRV at 3:0320 when 
  251. printing.
  252.  
  253. TurboCAD 2.0, 8/16 bpp, get GPF in STEALTH.DRV at 1:5D04 or 1:5D08 when openning
  254. a big drawing file.
  255.  
  256. German umlaut characters does not get display.
  257.
